Final penny pressed by U.S. Mint in Philadelphia to end its 232-year run
The penny is officially going extinct. Yesterday, the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia—where the coin has been produced since 1793—struck the final one-cent piece, closing the chapter on more than two centuries of history. The decision comes as part of a broader effort to phase out the nation’s smallest denomination, which had grown costly to maintain—each penny costing nearly four times its face value to produce. Ending production is expected to save the U.S. government an estimated $56 million each year. The last coin to be discontinued before the penny was the half-cent, retired back in 1857. Today, the Treasury Department estimates that there are roughly 300 billion pennies still in circulation. While you can continue to use them, many retailers have begun rounding prices to the nearest nickel as the supply of new pennies comes to an end.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 drops first teaser trailer
We’re getting our first, fabulously stylish glimpse of Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprising their iconic roles as Miranda Priestly and Andrea (Andy) Sachs in the just-dropped teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2. The teaser opens with an elevator’s soft ding before revealing the duo’s chic reunion at the Runway Magazine offices. As Madonna’s “Vogue” pulses in the background, Hathaway’s Andy walks into the elevator acknowledging her old boss with a simple, “Miranda.” Miranda’s unmistakable voice then cuts through, “Took you long enough.” Nearly twenty years after the original film became a cultural phenomenon, the sequel reunites Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci — with a fresh lineup of fashion-world faces, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, and many more. The Devil Wears Prada 2 struts into theaters on May 1, 2026.

Adele to make acting debut in Tom Ford's upcoming film adaptation of Anne Rice novel Cry to Heaven
The 16-time Grammy Award winner is ready to take on a new challenge — acting — in fashion designer and filmmaker Tom Ford’s highly anticipated third feature. The 37-year-old superstar will make her big-screen debut alongside an impressive ensemble cast, including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, Thandiwe Newton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Hunter Schafer, Daryl McCormack, George MacKay, Paul Bettany, and Adolescence breakout star Owen Cooper. The film is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel Cry to Heaven, a sweeping drama set in 18th-century Italy that explores ambition, beauty, and betrayal in the world of the castrati singers. Pre-production is already underway in London and Rome, with filming slated to begin in January. The project is expected to hit theaters in late 2026.
