Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez receives five-year sentence for 2022 shooting
On February 28, 2022, UFC champion Cain Velasquez was involved in a vigilante-like, high-speed shooting incident intended at hunting down accused child molester Harry Goularte. During the confrontation, Velasquez allegedly fired into a truck carrying Goularte and others, severely injuring Goularte's 63-year-old relative in the process. The incident was sparked after Velasquez’s four-year-old son claimed he was sexually assaulted by Goularte, who is now facing charges of felony child molestation. Velasquez's official sentencing took place on Monday, March 24. He will receive credit for time previously served and is expected to spend approximately one year in prison.

The 2025 World Figure Skating Championships kick off today in Boston
