The seasoned character actor is set to bring new life to a timeless holiday classic, starring as Ebenezer Scrooge in the upcoming film Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. Produced by Paramount Pictures and directed by Ti West, the movie offers a darker, more gothic reimagining of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Depp’s portrayal will reportedly explore Scrooge’s emotional descent and redemption with a mix of haunting realism and signature eccentricity. The film, also starring Andrea Riseborough, is scheduled for release in November 2026, marking Depp’s first major studio lead role in several years — and a highly anticipated return to the big screen.
Soft Cell's Dave Ball known for "Tainted Love," dead at 66
The musician who was one half of the groundbreaking synth-pop duo Soft Cell, has died at age 66. Ball passed away peacefully at his home in London on October 22, according to reports from his management. Best known for crafting the pulsing electronic sound behind the 1981 hit “Tainted Love,” Ball helped define a generation of new-wave and club music with his innovative production and minimalist approach. Alongside singer Marc Almond, he blended darkness, glamour, and technology into songs that reshaped the pop landscape.
Elton John’s Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (50th Anniversary Edition) out now
Half a century after it dominated charts around the world, Elton John’s seminal album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy has received a 50th Anniversary Edition reissue, out now via UMe. The special reissue is available on multiple formats, including 2LP, 2CD, and 1LP, Live At Midsummer Music, Wembley Stadium 1975, which was the album’s live debut, as well as a booklet containing never-before-seen entries from Elton’s personal diary.
