Chadwick Boseman posthumously receives with star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Boseman was honored with the 2,828th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Motion Pictures category. The ceremony, held five years after his passing from colon cancer in August 2020, celebrated the profound impact of his life and work. Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom co-star Viola Davis, and Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman—who accepted the star on his behalf—paid tribute to his legacy. A South Carolina native driven by purpose and faith, Boseman rose to prominence with his 2013 portrayal of Jackie Robinson in 42. He later became a global icon as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with Captain America: Civil War in 2016. His legacy continues through the Chadwick Boseman Foundation for the Arts, founded in 2022 to empower Black storytellers.
