Marilyn Monroe’s former LA home declared historic monument
The decision was made unanimously by the Los Angeles City Council in order to preserve the home from demolition. It is reported that the current homeowners have been pushing to raze the house in an effort to expand their estate next door and lessen tourist traffic in the neighborhood. The 2,900-square-foot estate was purchased by Monroe in 1962 for $75,000, where she then died only six months later. The home was last purchased by the current owners in 2023 for $8.35 million.
