Live Metallica performance of “Enter Sandman” shakes ground registering as minor seismic activity in Virginia
The band took the stage at Lane Stadium in Virginia last week as part of their M72 World Tour, performing for more than 60,000 fans. When the legendary heavy metal group began to play the first notes of their iconic 1991 hit “Enter Sandman,” the crowd reportedly shook the ground as fans began jumping and dancing in response. Tremors were detected by the Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory, which stands approximately one mile from the stadium, scientifically confirming the concert as a minor seismic event. While the tremors were too minor to be rated on the Richter scale and posed no threat to the public, fans were quick to name the event “The Metallica Quake.”
