The highly acclaimed British actor, known for villainous roles such as General Zod in the Superman films, passed away yesterday. His family broke the news in a statement, reading "He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come, ... As his family we ask for privacy at this sad time." Stamp received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 1962 film Billy Budd, his first role in a film. Other notable roles include Bernadette in 1994’s The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and the kidnapping antagonist in 1965's The Collector.
Singer Sean Kingston receives multi-year prison sentence over $1 million fraud scheme
The Grammy-winning artist was sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison on Friday for charges of wire fraud and organized fraud, following a scheme to defraud luxury businesses of over $1 million. The “Beautiful Girls” singer and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted in March 2025 by a federal jury for one count conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. The prosecution alleged they used Kingston's celebrity status to persuade vendors to provide luxury items, including watches, a car, and audio/video equipment, before receiving full payment and then used fake wire transfers to avoid paying. In court, Kingston apologized before U.S. Judge David Leibowitz saying he had learned from his actions. Last month, Kingston’s mother was sentenced to five years in prison for her part in the scheme.
