ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard to miss Australian leg of tour amid ongoing health issues
News of the legendary drummer’s upcoming absence comes just over a month after the band announced his initial hiatus from touring. While exact details of his health condition remain unknown, Live Nation revealed that Beard’s time away from the band was “recommended by medical personnel.” Drummer and longtime ZZ Top tech member John Douglas will sit in for Beard throughout the tour’s Australian leg, which kicks off on April 26 and runs through mid-May. The band will then make stops in New Zealand before heading back to the U.S. and Canada, kicking off their 51-date North American leg in June.
