Actor Val Kilmer dies at 65
The Hollywood legend, best known for his roles in films such as Top Gun, Batman Forever, and The Doors, passed away on Tuesday night following a battle with pneumonia. His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, revealed his death in a statement to The New York Times and the Associated Press. Kilmer spent more than 40 years in the film industry, first appearing in 1984’s Top Secret!, just two years before the release of Top Gun in which he starred as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky. Kilmer returned to the Top Gun franchise in 2022, reprising his role with a brief appearance in Top Gun: Maverick. Kilmer is also one of many iconic actors to wear the cape as Batman, starring as the titular role in 1995’s Batman Forever. His passing comes more than 10 years after being diagnosed with throat cancer, which later required two tracheotomies.
