Filmed in New York, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, stars Melissa McCarthy, Richard E. Grant and Dolly Wells, who returned to the city for the premiere of the film based on the true story of best-selling celebrity biographer Lee Israel. The quirky docudrama depicts what happened when the once successful Israel (McCarthy), who profiled the likes of Katharine Hepburn and Tallulah Bankhead, finds her writing out of touch. Before her career careens into complete obscurity, she begins selling forged letters that appear to have been written by deceased writers, playwrights and actors and enlists her friend Jack (Grant) to help perpetrate the scheme. The onscreen duo weighs in on their real life characters and the seemingly "grim" tale that is actually filled with "wit, warmth and comedy," according to Grant. Catch it in theaters out now.
