Sigourney Weaver hit the red carpet, matching in a red pantsuit, last week at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City for the premiere of her movie, The Good House. The actress takes on the leading role in the film, which she says is a step forward for women in Hollywood.
“Older women used to have to play obnoxious mothers-in-law or villainesses. She’s a real person,” Weaver told us. “It could have never have happened earlier. It just didn’t, so I’m grateful I got to play Hildy and speak out for her," she said.
Based on the best-selling novel by Ann Leary, The Good House follows New England realtor Hildy Good who tries to do business with her old high-school flame Frank Getchell. Their rekindled romance ignites long-buried emotions and family secrets that propel Hildy toward finally facing herself and evaluating her life.
The film was co-directed by Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky.
