The cast of West Side Story came out for the remake’s LA premiere at the El Capitan Theatre Tuesday night. Stars Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Rita Moreno, and director Steven Spielberg shared what it was like working on the musical.

West Side Story originally premiered on Broadway in 1957 and was made into a movie for the first time in 1961. Broadway sensation Rita Moreno, who won an Oscar for her role of Anita in the original film, takes on the character Valentina this time around.  

Spielberg attributes his artistic company ensemble in giving the music of Leonard Bernstein and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim new life in the film. Catch the movie in theaters tomorrow.
