Friend-filled barbecues, lazy days on the beach, and quality vacation time with family make summer the best season of the year in our book. To ensure you can savor every second of it, lifestyle and wellness expert Bahar Takhtehchian has some insightful tips on how to stay healthy and energized all summer long.
1. Don't let a headache slow you down. Nothing can ruin a summer day more than a migraine. According to a recent WebMD survey, one out of every three participants polled suffer from headaches on a weekly basis, and a surprising 46% of those people choose to "tough it out" without taking medicine, despite the advice from their doctors to do otherwise. Excedrin has a new line of fast-acting remedies to treat all different varieties of headaches, such as Migraine, Tension Headache, Mild Headache and PM Headache. You can also learn more about the different types of headaches and respective treatments on the Excedrin Headache Center website and on the American Headache Society website.
2. Simplify your multivitamin routine. Do you often forget to take all of your multivitamins and supplements in the morning? Consider drinking them instead, suggests Takhtehchian. Zarbee's Naturals have multivitamin and supplement powders that you mix with cold or warm water to get your daily dose in a refreshing drink. "This helps you get those nutrients that you may not be getting from the foods that you're eating. Zarbee's Naturals supplements are made from hand-picked, wholesome ingredients, like ginger and chamomile," says Takhtehchian. "Choose from a range of products, such as a multivitamin blend with prebiotics to help digestion and a supplement blend that helps you relax after a really hard day at work or at school."
3. Practice safe sun. In addition to making sure you feel great on the inside, don't forget about the outside. "It's crucial to use SPF 30 on both kids and adults. You want to apply it about 30 minutes before exposing yourself to the sun and reapply, especially if you're swimming or sweating," advises Takhtehchian.
